The business was founded 100 years ago as a dairy by the grandfather and developed into a catering business in the 70ies. The hotel grew, from five rooms in the beginning to 18 rooms and suites through the purchase of the guesthouses in the direct neighborhood. By and by a small, idyllic “village” with the garden and the old well in the center emerged. With all the modernizations and expansions the family Fleischer has always understood to combine coziness and modern comfort and yet to conserve their own past. The guest can find proof for this all over the house: since the opening forty years ago for example, a hand-carved night watchman near the fireplace watches over the fire and the guests.The hotel and restaurant “Zum alten Brunnen” is a family business that puts a lot of emphasis on a close and harmonic contact to its guests. This is true for the 10 employees as well as for the owner Bernd Fleischer.
Bernd Fleischer is hotel owner with a passion and has realized his ideas of a modern hotel and restaurant with its particular charm with a lot of personal commitment. In the past decades he has deepened his “hotel knowledge” in many renowned hotels. Among those are Schloss Wikinghege (Muenster) the Excelsior Hotel Ernst (Cologne), the Breidenbacher Hof (Dusseldorf) and the Louvre, Concorde (Paris). Additional stages of his professional career were the hotel business school Heidelberg and the “MS Europa” of Hapag Lloyd where he worked as a purser. In 1988 he finally took over the business.
